Bill’s (Melbourne, Australia):
Russell & George

Bill’s bar, designed by Russell & George, is a new addition to the Smith Street strip in Melbourne, referencing American diners of the 50’s.

Bill’s bar is certainly a very grown up venue, being quiet, dark and luxurious. The rich scotch coloured decor ties in perfectly with the existing tiled flooring. The tan leather banquette by Warpt Textiles lends an air of luxury. The masculine grey walls are painted in Dulux’s Klute and Domino.

The space is dominated by the large timber wine rack, set in a diamond pattern with black leather panelling – is an interesting reference to card games which suits it’s location and ties in with the theme of the adjoining restaurant, Huxtaburger.

This diamond wine rack, by Dwell Developments, subtly shifts as you move around the space. The simple, elegant lighting was designed by another Australian designer, Christopher Boots.

The space concludes in a monochrome bar tucked around to the side, featuring a large diamond pattern in black and stainless steel.
